Introduction: Getting to know me.

Hi! My name is Molly Connaughton. I am from Beverly, MA and have lived here my entire life. I originally started my college journey at North Shore Community College, where I stayed for two years. Upon my completion of classes at North Shore I transferred to Salem State University. I am now a senior and will graduate with a bachelors degree in Psychology and a minor in Education. I am taking this class because I want to spend sometime in an elementary classroom. I think that spending time working with elementary age children will help me in my future endeavor of working with high school students as a guidance councilor, which is what I would like to be after I graduate. I would like to do this because when I was a senior in high school I did not get much advise/guidance on what to look for in my college application process. I think that by working with young children it will help to give me a better insight into their lives for future reference and understanding when I work with them as young adults planning for their future. What makes me anxious is the thought that I will play such a large role in their young lives and I want to give them the best opportunities available. The main experience I have comes from working at the preschool Next Generations and from baby-sitting my young nieces and nephews. As for my future plans I would love to stay in this area and help guide High School students in picking the right path for them to follow.

With the help of todays technology homeschooling has become more widespread. The internet can be used as a library and a way to communicate with other learning facilities. It helps to bring the classroom into the home. I think the article is useful in the fact that it shows with technology you do not have to be in a classroom setting to learn.
